Homeless From the Mayo Clinic

Yesterday I received a tip from one our friends that we meet under the Holton St bridge that a lady was in critical need of supplies.  I found her at the dog park on Knapp St, her name is Tina.  Tina came to Wisconsin from Minnesota a couple of days ago when she was released from the Mayo Clinic.  She had no where else to go and came here because her daughter attends Alverno college.  Tina’s daughter lives in the dorms and her mom lives in the park.  I don’t get it but I found that it’s best not to question and only to supply what she needs.  I talked with her for quite some time and left her with my card telling her to check in with me if any additional needs arise.  She called today and said she was blessed by some people who put her up in a hotel last night.

Please keep Tina and all our friends in your prayers.  Thank you to the folks that had the compassion and kindness allowing her to spend a dry warm night in a hotel.

Easter Blessings

Our trip to the city on Sunday blessed us with the smiling faces of around 85-100 of our friends.  We treated them with 16 dozen colored eggs that Kathy and Jill made up with a smily face on all of them.  Our friends from Freedom Fellowship Church in Jackson made up sweet packs that I heard were dropped off at my by house by an Easter Bunny named Janet.  Thank you partners for that wonderful treat.  Our friends Jeri and Gary who are residents in the area we serve brought down the most delicious buns that were topped with a special frosting.  Thanks you guys for supporting our ministry.

On a legal note we’ve applied for our 501 (c) (3) last week.  In order to process our request we needed to send a check along for $750.00.  I thought to myself seems like alot of money the government needs to set us up, but so be it.  This week I got a letter from the Irs requesting another $100.00 dollars because the fees changed and now $850.00 is required.  My thought is how can we be in such deep debt when they are making their own rules.  Ponder that for me.

I Love you all.

Blessings are a…

Blessings are all around us if we are patient and listen.  Today we were able to buy 200 pairs of long underwear, 500 hand warmers, and 75 insulated gloves.  Our loving friends at the Cedarbug Grafton Rotary provided the funds to aquire these much needed items that we’ve been asked for all winter season.  Thank You Rotary for your continued compassion and love you have for our friends in the city.

Sunday January 9 2011

WHOA ! It was a cold morning in downtown Milwaukee, when we arrived I looked at the thermometer in my car and it read 10 degrees.  20 or so of our friends were waiting as we pulled up at Cathedral Square Park, most bundled up and some wanting the warm clothing we had for them.  We were able to buy 40 pairs of new warm winter boots.  The Cedarburg Grafton Rotary members raised the funds for us.  Thanks again !  Harvey and Patrick got busy and handed them out as I shivered and chatted with my good friends.  As I looked around I saw many that were replacing their tennis shoes with nice warm boots.

What a great day Sunday can be!!!
